| Jack Reagan is a slobbish,old style cop whose unsubtle methods usually get results,to the annoyance of internal affairs officer Lewis,who would be even more annoyed if he knew that Reagan was having an affair with his young wife,policewoman Nancy. After Reagan disobeys orders and a shoot-out in central London following a bank hold-up ends in carnage he is stripped of office and briefly imprisoned. However,thanks to the loyalty of his young protege George Carter and a little string pulling from his superior Frank Haskins Reagan is released to bring down the villains in a gun battle at Gravesend marina,ensuring the continued existence of his department - the Sweeney. | |

| The Sweeney is a parasitic tapeworm, masquerading as a British crime epic. Blake Howard-2UE That Movie Show [C]omes across more like wishful thinking, as if both the onscreen fictional characters and the offscreen real-life filmmakers were fantasizing about being in a Hollywood action movie... MaryAnn Johanson-Flick Filosopher Winstone shows he's got what it takes to slide into John Thaw's acrylic flares. Andy Lea-Daily Star Big, brash, ballsy fun. It's a Winstone mecca for fans to witness their idol in all his former hard-man glory ... Lisa Giles-Keddie-HeyUGuys It's alright so 'ave a look. Ed Whitfield-The Ooh Tray What the hell's this pony trap? That Nick Love - Danny Dyer's best mate - has only gone and made a film with the same bleedin' name. But this ain't the Sweeney. Tara Brady-Irish Times Fans of the original drama about the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad will not be pleased by it. It's also too long.
